SITUATED IN A WORLD HERITAGE SITE IN THE DORDOGNE.
The Dordogne
in SW France is steeped in history, stunningly beautiful, essentially
rural and lives life at a slower pace than most. Perigord has been a
magnet to visitors and invaders alike for centuries.
La Rosiere is situated in the enchanting
Vezere Valley, whose caves hold the greatest concentration of
prehistoric art on this planet.
The gites are
close to Les Eyzies in an UNESCO World Heritage site, located
in a tranquil valley called the Combe de la Faye (Valley of the
Fairies).
We are at the end
of an isolated track (with 16 acres of private land) and no immediate
neighbours or passing traffic but are still within close proximity for the
many and varied local attractions, shops, restaurants and markets. Stunning
historic towns and bastides such as Sarlat, Rocamadour and
Monpazier are close by and the chateaux and the smaller towns and
villages of this fascinating region will not disappoint you. Not to mention
the delights of the highly distinctive cuisine and wine.
As well as the
archaeological treasures of the area to marvel at, they is much else to see
and do. You can be as energetic or as relaxed as you choose. For the active,
you can walk, cycle, ride horses, paddle canoes,
play tennis, swim in the pools and rivers, walk in the trees ...
the more relaxed can take leisure flights in
microlites and hot air balloons, visit gardens, museums, markets, towns and
villages. And on and on - there is no shortage of entertainment.
But, if you are
coming to unwind and to watch the world go by, to sit by the pool in the
sunshine with a good book and a glass of two of chilled white wine, you can
do that too. The Dordogne can be all things to all men, women and
children - the big problem is to choose. And a word of warning - many people
who come here simply to enjoy a holiday, are so impressed with the region
and the way of life that they sometimes end up living here. So be warned!
SECHOIR: 4 BEDROOMED (600 – 1450 GBP)
The
Sechoir a Tabac is our beautiful stone and
wooden tobacco drying barn, covered in ancient vines which has been
converted into a stunning four-bedroomed gite.
The Sechoir is ideal for a large family or
a group of family and friends.
It has a total
floor area of 230 m2 with two double and two twin bedrooms upstairs (each 4
x 4m), two upstairs shower/ WC rooms (each 3 x 2m) and a downstairs
bathroom/ WC (4 x 2m).
Downstairs is a
very spacious dining/sitting area (12 x 7m) with satellite TV, a galleried
entrance and huge double windows.
There is a
well-equipped kitchen (6 x 4m).
Outside is a
private, fenced garden with barbeque and a stream running alongside. From
here, you have wonderful and unobstructed views along the valley.
The barn will
comfortably accommodate eight guests but we're happy to provide extra beds
and/or cots if required.
VILLA: 3 BEDROOMED (450 – 1045 GBP)
Villa Rosiere is a detached stone cottage,
formerly a water mill with a private fenced garden, courtyard shaded with
vines, barbeque facilities and even your own little stream close by.
The entrance and
garden is not overlooked and there is secure parking.
The accommodation
includes an airy and spacious sitting/dining area (11.5m x 5.5m) with stone
floor, fireplace with wood burner, large dining table, comfortable furniture
and satellite TV.
There is an
attractive kitchen/breakfast room (6m x 4m), fully equipped with combination
electric/gas cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and microwave.
There are two
double (one downstairs) and one twin bedroom, all of good size and a
downstairs bathroom/wc (4m x 4m) and an upstairs shower room/wc.
There is
additional heating if required from electric wall heaters installed in all
rooms.
This gite will
comfortably accommodate six people but we're happy to consider adding extra
beds or cots if required.
GRENIER: 2 BEDROOMED (350 – 695 GBP)
Grenier a Foin is a stone barn,
originally a hayloft and about 200 years old.
The barn was
beautifully converted ten years ago into a 2-bedroomed self-catering gite
and extensively redecorated last year.
The accommodation
is spacious and airy with a total floor area of 117 m2, cool in summer but
with oil central heating if required.
It has a large and
fully fitted kitchen and dining area with electric oven/gas hob, dishwasher,
washing machine, fridge and microwave.
There is a
spacious and comfortable sitting area with satellite TV, a double and a twin
bedroom (decorated with Jungle Book characters and very popular with
children and parents alike), shower room and separate WC.
This gite will
comfortably accommodate four people but we're happy to consider including
extra beds or cots if you require.

Marmeix is a gite complex set in
the beautiful Perigord Vert region of the Dordogne, South West France.
It is set in 15 acres of our own parkland
and surrounded by National Park woodland walks in a very peaceful
setting. It is the perfect place for a most relaxing holiday.
Within the grounds we have a 2 acre lake
stocked with carp weighing over 20lbs. All fishing tackle is
available for hire and bait can be provided. It is an ideal location
for the angler wishing to bring his family. For the more dedicated

The region contains some of France's
prettiest and most historic towns and villages and we are within easy
reach of several market towns such as Brantome, Piegut
and Nontron. Nontron is the closest and has good
supermarkets, restaurants, shops etc.
In the nearby village of St Saud
you will find the baker, butcher, chemist, hairdresser, good
restaurants and bars. The Hostellerie St
Jaques is one of the top restaurants in South West France.
There is also a superb lake with restaurant, beach, safe swimming and
playground for the children.
We are situated one hour away from
Limoges Airport and Ryanair operates daily flights from
Stansted, East Midlands and Liverpool. Car hire is easily available.

FARMHOUSE: this stone built property is fully renovated to
a very high standard and offers every comfort.

Golden Oak is a
beautiful 5 acre lake set in the middle of tranquil farmland. It has everything

The gites are a traditional stone barn conversion, retaining many of the
original features, but including the comfort you would expect from a high
class conversion. Exposed stonework, oak beams, and a wood burning stove rub
shoulders with soft, colourful rugs and tasteful funishings.
The gites are
wheelchair friendly, all access is ramped, and have a
double en-suite on the ground floor. There are two large bedrooms on the 1st
floor, 1 double and one twin, both of which have en-suite facilities.
The kitchen is fully fitted, with all the usual
equipment. There are laundry facilities available. The lounge and dining
area have double doors leading onto the terrace, which overlook the lawn and
lake, making it the perfect place for breakfast, or a glass of wine. Garden
furniture is provided, we also have a plunge pool. Parking is conveniently
situated at the side of the barn.

Northern Dordogne countryside, just 3 km's from Saint Saud Lacoussiere.
In carp angling terms we are a 'Fly and Survive'
or 'Drive and Survive', a new venue for 2007 with excellent facilities.
Our 4 acre lake is situated in an attractive
setting. Surrounded on all sides by trees and with a well maintained grass
bank on one side, level with the water's edge, ideal for fishing from.
The
lake was stocked 3 times during the winter of 2006/2007. In total 50 Carp over
20lb were introduced, including several 30'sand
one fish over 40lb. The new carp have gained weight rapidly and we now have
several 40's and numerous 30's. We also have some catfish in the lake, the
biggest is now well over 50lb and we have others not far behind in weight. The
lake is also home to about 150 Original Carp, these are mainly double-figure
fish with some 20's, but there could be some surprises.
The facilities at Sweet
Chestnut Lake are excellent and are of course exclusive to parties
that book with us.
We
offer a recently refurbished apartment contained in the main house and above
our own accommodation, right on the edge of the lake. Total privacy is
maintained as access is by way of an external stairway with small viewing
balcony. Decorated to a high standard the self contained apartment boasts
brand new kitchen and bathroom.
The toilet, walk in shower and large wash basin
have just been installed complete with fresh white wall tiles. There is also a
large living/dining area with 3 seater sofa and dining table with chairs.
Outside the apartment, we provide table, chairs
and parasol, ideal for sitting out and relaxing, and also a new stone
barbeque. Below this accessed by natural steps, on the lakes edge, is a hard
standing which can also be used, you can even fish from here if you like.
We
can provide all the large items of carp fishing equipment, which were new
in 2007, and this is included in our prices.
This makes us very attractive to
customers, who wish to take advantage of the amazing low cost flights by Ryanair to Limoges.
Our venue is just a leisurely 40 minute drive away
in the beautiful Parc Naturel Regional Perigord-Limousin.
Delicious freshly cooked meals are available and
anglers may decide to book the food package for the week. Meals can be
delivered to your swim or served in the apartment.
We
are happy to cater for any angler's needs and provide as much or as little

Our cottage is located in the small hamlet of LA MARCHADERIE, which is a five-minute
drive from the village of ST MATHIEU (60kms SW of LIMOGES)
The cottage has been recently renovated and furnished to accommodate 6 people. It consists of a Kitchen/Dining room, Separate lounge with CD/Radio player and TV, 3
bedrooms (2 double, 1 twin) Bathroom with shower, WC and Vanity unit with hand washbasin. Constant Hot water.
The equipment provided for 6 people includes a washing machine, Fridge/Freezer, Microwave oven plus all the normal cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils. Cooking is by a
4-burner gas stove and oven.
Bed linen and towels (sorry but no beach towels) are provided and changed weekly.
There is a garden with lawn and flowerbeds together with an outside patio area with garden furniture and Bar-B-Que for alfresco meals.
We can also supply a Baby Cot (with Linen) High Chair and pushchair if required.
Heating if required is supplied by a Gas fire and electric radiators.
LOCATION
The pretty village of ST MATHIEU has a well-stocked supermarket that includes an English food section. It has Banks, Post Office, Bakers and Newsagent/Tabac,
Garages for car repairs etc. So is well situated for your day-to-day needs. The village also has 2 Doctors should you need them.
A little further away (30 mins drive) is the town of ST JUNIEN has the larger supermarkets and shopping precincts.
In our area we have lovely rolling wooded hills with nearby lakes, which provide for swimming, boating and fishing. There are also Riding Stables nearby. The lakes have
beaches for building sandcastles etc. and during the months of July and August have lifeguards on duty. There are plenty of well signposted walks, ranging from a casual
2-hour stroll to a full days exploration of the area. Castles and Caves are nearby waiting to be explored. There are good restaurants in the area that serve good French
and Local cuisine. The village of PIEGUT, which has a great weekly market, is only 20 minutes away. The town of
BRANTOME (known as the Venice of France) is about
45mins Drive.
ANGOULEME is about 1hours drive and from here you can easily catch the TGV to
PARIS, LILLE and onwards to the UK via Euro star.
LIMOGES airport is approx 50 mins away and is served by the Budget airlines
Ryanair and Flybe going to London (Stansted), Liverpool and
Southampton.

Both Gites have been recently completely renovated to very high standard, and as we live
in an adjoining property on site we are able to ensure that your stay will be completely stress free, just as you expect. We are situated

Route of Richard the Lionheart. Jumilhac is well equipped with two restaurants, boulangerie, charcuterie and a small grocery shop.

La Ferme du Lac, Marval (south Haute
Vienne/north Dordogne border)
17th Century farmhouse with well established restaurant, friendly

La Ferme du Lac
sits at the end of a winding lane, 2 miles from Marval (valley of the lakes) in
the Parc Naturel Regional
Perigord-Limousin.
Situated approximately 45 minutes drive from Limoges Airport, making it an ideal
spot for travellers exploring the area or for house hunters.
Our property comprises a 22-acre
valley with a 7-acre lake at its heart. It’s a perfect spot for watching the
wildlife of the region - over 60 species of birds along with otter, deer, boar,
civet cat and others. The lake contains carp, coarse and game fish, and we have
a category A (trout) river running through our land.
Our chalets (sleeping 14) and bed
and breakfast rooms (sleeping 13) are either new or have recently been
refurbished to an excellent standard. Good quality bed linen and towels are
provided.
We also have a small number of
quiet secluded camping
pitches available.

HOLIDAYS!!
The
lake was stocked 3 times during the winter of 2006/2007. In total 50 Carp over
20lb were introduced, including several 30's
and
one fish over 40lb. The new carp have gained weight rapidly and we now have
several 40's and numerous 30's. We also have some catfish in the lake, the
biggest is now well over 50lb and we have others not far behind in weight. The
lake is also home to about 150 Original Carp, these are mainly double-figure
fish with some 20's, but there could be some surprises.
We
offer a recently refurbished apartment contained in the main house and above
our own accommodation, right on the edge of the lake. Total privacy is
maintained as access is by way of an external stairway with small viewing
balcony. Decorated to a high standard the self contained apartment boasts
brand new kitchen and bathroom.
We
can provide all the large items of carp fishing equipment, which were new
in 2007, and this is included in our prices.
“Chez Florence” is set in beautiful gardens with unspoilt views to front and rear.
Périgourdin farmhouse where we offer bed and breakfast and the option of an evening meal in 3 tastefully furnished and decorated double bedrooms (two with double
beds and one with two single beds). Each room has its own private bath-room.

Our cottage is located in the small hamlet of LA MARCHADERIE, which is a five-minute
drive from the village of ST MATHIEU (60kms SW of LIMOGES)
The equipment provided for 6 people includes a washing machine, Fridge/Freezer, Microwave oven plus all the normal cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils. Cooking is by a
4-burner gas stove and oven.
